I happened upon this show by accident (I planned on seeing another show that sold out), and honestly I am so happy things turned out that way. I knew nothing about Plaid Tales and was surprised at how much I loved it! The story was honest and the music was great. Shows like this can often fall into the trap of being too serious or too much of a parody, but Plaid Tales was able to find a great balance between the dramatic and comedic moments. The entire ensemble was strong, and I especially liked the dynamic in the scene with Gil and Theo. I’ve seen a few great shows so far this Fringe season, but Plaid Tales is my surprise favorite!

Clear your schedule! Plaid Tales is a playful and thoughtful show that focuses on the lives and relationships of well-developed, endearing characters. Distinctly Minnesotan, universally relatable.

My literal only complaint that matters is I wish it were longer. I loved this story, the music, the acting, the direction, etc. I loved each and every character and the story that came with them. I thought they did a great job at staging, and the sound effects to engulf us into the story really helped as well. I loved the relationship dynamics. Ruby’s fill in music was super fitting and I loved that it was live! To the writer, I would LOVE if you expanded this story and wrote a full length show! So beautiful, a MUST SEE for fringe! Great job cast and crew!! :)
